Financial & Market-Data Disclaimer
Effective July 11, 2026 · Last updated September 2, 2026
Rip & Hold helps you research and organize a Pokémon-card collection. The prices, collection values, scores, and market calls we show are research tools, not advice or guarantees. This page explains how to read them.
1. Research & informational use only
Everything on Rip & Hold is provided for research and informational purposes only. Nothing on the Service is financial, investment, tax, legal, appraisal, authentication, or other professional advice, or a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any item. Trading cards are collectibles, not securities or regulated financial instruments. Their values are volatile and illiquid and can go down as well as up.
2. What Rip & Hold is not
Rip & Hold is not a broker, dealer, exchange, marketplace, escrow agent, payment intermediary, investment adviser, financial adviser, appraiser, authenticator, or grading company. We do not buy, sell, broker, inspect, ship, authenticate, grade, or take custody of cards, and we are not a party to any transaction you enter into outside the Service.
3. Prices are third-party estimates
Catalog, image, price, population, and comparable-sale data, for both single cards and sealed products, are aggregated from third-party sources, including TCGdex (catalog and imagery) and ScryDex (market prices, graded prices, comparable sales, and population). Some catalog records were originally imported through tcgcsv, a mirror of TCGplayer. Reviewed Trick or Trade cards use market data from matching ScryDex stamped variants; cards without a verified market source may show no current price. These figures are estimates that may be delayed, incomplete, unavailable, or inaccurate, and may be revised or removed as upstream sources change. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, timeliness, or availability of any data on the Service.
The Service may show raw-condition prices, grade-specific prices, population reports, active listings, and sold comparable transactions. Those are different evidence sets and may cover different dates, marketplaces, conditions, currencies, or lookback windows. An active listing is an asking price, not a completed sale. When a usable value is unavailable, the Service may show a neutral unavailable state rather than estimate or fabricate one.
4. No guarantee of value, liquidity, or return
We do not guarantee that any card can be sold, or sold at any particular price, or that a value shown on the Service reflects what you could actually buy or sell for. Past performance is not indicative of future results. Any decision you make based on the Service is made solely at your own risk.
5. Grading & authentication
Where we show graded prices and population data, those figures reflect third-party graded-market data. We do not grade, authenticate, or predict the grade of any specific card. A grade shown on the Service is a market reference, not a promise that a card will receive a particular grade from PSA, BGS, CGC, SGC, or any other grader.
6. Collection value calculations
Collection values, gains, market-cap figures, and the benchmark a tracked call is measured against are estimates derived from third-party data. They may not equal actual sale proceeds and do not account for marketplace fees, taxes, shipping, insurance, condition differences, or the time it takes to find a buyer.
7. R&H Score & market calls
The R&H Score is a platform-generated research indicator computed from available market data. Where available, the Service may also show confidence, trend, contributing factors, and a platform Buy, Hold, or Sell market call. A platform market call is withheld when the data does not meet the platform’s sufficiency or confidence requirements. These outputs are not recommendations, price targets, appraisals, or investment advice, and they are one input among many for your own research.
A platform-generated market call is different from a user thesis call. User calls are opinions authored by collectors. Rip & Hold provides the publishing and tracking system but does not adopt, verify, or endorse the user’s stance or note.
8. Other users, track records & rankings
Other users can publish Buy/Hold/Sell thesis calls for exact card printings and grades. Ownership disclosures are self-reported. That content is theirs, not ours. We do not review, verify, endorse, or adopt it, and nothing another user publishes is advice from Rip & Hold or a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold anything. Treat it as one collector’s opinion.
Where the Service shows a track record, a leaderboard rank, or competition standings, those figures are historical summaries we calculate from published calls using our own methodology and the same third-party estimates described in Section 3, with all the limits set out there. “Verified” in that context means only that a figure was computed consistently from calls that were published in advance and locked. Entry and closing values are market estimates for the selected printing and grade; they are not transaction receipts. “Verified” in this context does notmean audited, realized, independently confirmed, or guaranteed, and it is not a record of money actually made or lost. Qualifying public Buy, Sell, and Hold calls may be used for public track-record calculations; methodology and eligibility may change. Ranking well is not evidence of skill, and past performance does not predict future results.
9. Your responsibility
You are solely responsible for your own purchases, sales, taxes, shipping, insurance, authentication, grading, and transaction decisions, and for your own due diligence. External marketplaces and services that we link to are governed by their own terms and policies. If you need advice, consult a qualified professional.
10. Trademarks & non-affiliation
Rip & Hold is an independent product and is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by The Pokémon Company, Nintendo, Game Freak, or Creatures Inc. Pokémon names, card images, and related trademarks belong to their respective owners and are used for identification and reference only. This disclaimer supplements, and does not replace, our Terms & Conditions (including the “AS IS” disclaimers and limitation of liability) and our Privacy Policy.
